It works!
I've been doing pore strips on the first of every month, religiously, since I was 12. When I got married, my husband joined me in the monthly "extraction" as he calls it. I also don't pop or squeeze or extract anything with tools. I just wash my face twice a day and use my Clarisonic every other day. I use clay masks twice a week, and do sheet masks every now and again while I watch TV. Nothing fancy. This stuff pulled more out of my face than anything I've ever bought in the 16 years since I started. My husband has had a few enlarged pores that pore strips never seems to work on, and this stuff emptied them.
To use it, I sort of just plop the jar in a cup of hot water from the faucet while I steam my face. Then, I sort of just use my finger to spread it the liquid over the areas I want, and quickly press a paper over it.
I will warn you that it smells really weird. Also, the paper included runs out pretty quick, but I've found that tissue paper (the kind used for stuffing the top of a gift bag) worked just fine.
